Wakefield Council stressed the importance of keeping all windows closed.
The council tweeted: “West Yorkshire fire & rescue are currently at a large fire in Ossett.
“Can all residents keep doors and windows closed.”
Crews from 13 fire stations are reportedly involved in tackling the blaze after emergency calls were made at 8.18PM.
A total of 14 fire engines were on the scene of the fire as well as two aerial appliances and one aerial ladder platform.
Crews were sent to the scene from fire stations at Dewsbury, Ossett, Wakefield, Hunslet, Rothwell, Morley, Normanton, Cleckheaton, Rastrick, Killingbeck, Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has announced the local road closures will remain in place throughout the night as the public is urged to avoid the area.
