Jake Paul was AHEAD of Tyron Woodley on all three scorecards before stunning KO

Jake Paul was ahead on all three judges’ scorecards before delivering a devastating one-punch knockout to end his rivalry with Tyron Woodley in style. 

‘The Problem Child’ claimed a split decision victory over the UFC legend in their first bout in August, but was far more decisive in Tampa, Florida, as his picture-perfect overhand right knocked Woodley out cold. 

Paul suffered a gruesome cut to the forehead following an accidental clash of heads in the third round, but rallied well to claim another impressive victory.

The decisive shot fell in round six, where Paul timed a wide-eyed Woodley perfectly, sending the 39-year-old crashing to the canvas, with the bout called off in an instant.

The first five rounds offered less entertainment, other than Paul’s dramatic cut to the head, with the Florida crowd offering boos on two separate occasions, with both fighters clinching regularly.   

Woodley admitted he had lost the first three rounds in their first bout in August during the build-up to the rematch, and he was unable to capitalise on Paul’s evident distress, once again appearing somewhat gun-shy. 

That was evident on the judges’ scorecards, who after five rounds of action had Paul unanimously in the lead, with two scores of 49-46 and another of 48-46.

Woodley would have needed a hefty momentum-shift to turn the scores around, but he wasn’t afforded the opportunity, as Paul showed another reminder of his power as he closed the show in style. 

Paul, now 5-0, has four knockouts in his five outings, with the judges required just once. He has also stopped all four of his opponents, after Woodley went the distance last time out. 

The 24-year-old was initially scheduled to take on Tommy Fury, before the Brit pulled out with a broken rib and a chest infection, with Woodley stepping in with just two weeks’ notice. 

‘Hey Tommy, wish you could’ve been here but watching from a TV is cool too,’ was the message displayed across Paul’s top as he made his walk to the ring, and he continued criticise the Brit in the immediate aftermath.

Speaking in the immediate aftermath, he said ‘This is as real as it gets, just like my right hand. I told you, I was going to f**k him up. And I f***k him up.

‘This guy (Woodley) is a legend and respect him for taking the fight on two weeks’ notice. Tommy Fury is a b***h for pulling out of the fight.

‘It was a tough fight. I had blood in my eyes. I had the job done. 

‘I was setting the punch up the whole fight. He didn’t see it coming. Like a lumberjack, timber.’
