Experts at Confused.com warn motorists could be caught out by distracted driving rules when listening to their favourite sports team on the radio. They warn drivers “stress levels rise” when listening to sports in the car which could affect their emotions on the road.
They warn some motorists may lose their ability to concentrate which could see drivers lose control.
Alex Kindred, Insurance Expert at Confused.com also warned drivers could face severe punishments if they are caught out.
This can start at a £100 fine but could rise depending on the severity of the incident.
He said: “Whether you’re a devotee to your team or you just love to get involved when a big tournament like the Six Nations is on, it’s an exciting weekend for sports fans.

Ask The Police said drivers may not have “proper control of their vehicle” if they were distracted by music.
They said: “It is not an offence in itself to listen to music on a mobile device whilst driving, riding or cycling.
“However, listening to music can be distracting.
“You need to be able to bring to bear all the senses you can and being able to hear is important in enabling you to be in proper control of your vehicle in traffic.
“A person using a device playing loud music, may, therefore, be deemed not to have proper control of their vehicle or to be driving without reasonable consideration for others, both of which are relatively serious offences.”
