Taiwan MP warns Xi Jinping likely pursue invasion despite human cost ‘Lives mean nothing!’

The threat of heavy causalities is not enough to dissuade China from invading Taiwan, Taiwanese MP Wang Ting-yu has warned. Wang Ting-yu has stressed that Xi Jinping and the rest of the Chinese leadership “doesn’t care about life.” He added that Taiwanese military forces were well-trained to counter any threat posed by Beijing. The self-governing island democracy faces ongoing threats of invasion from Xi Jinping’s regime.

Wang Ting-yu told Express.co.uk: “China they don’t care about life.

“To China people’s life means nothing to them.

“Leaders like Xi Jinping, his position does matter.

“So the war causing casualty, both sides, not only one side so, Taiwan we are a peaceful country we won’t create or give any excuse to have a conflict in this region.

“We are mature democracy country here,” he continued.

“However, we have our military-trained well to protect our country across the straight.

“The narrowest part of our Taiwan Strait is around 170 kilometres it’s wide, is not so easy to go across that.

“So if we talk about reasonable calculation, within five years, China they don’t have enough capability to invade Taiwan.”

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday: “China firmly opposes the invitation by the US for the Taiwan authorities to attend the so-called ‘Summit for Democracy.’

“There is but one China in the world, the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, and the one-China principle is a universally-recognized norm governing international relations.

“Taiwan has no other status in international law except as part of China.

“We solemnly urge the US to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués, stop providing ‘Taiwan independence’ forces with any platform or bolstering and emboldening them.”
