The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation after a stabbing attack in Burnt Oak today, on Friday. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was found fatally injured by officers who were called to Watling Avenue at around 5pm.
London Ambulance Service officials also attended.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has not yet been formally identified.
It remains unknown whether his family have been informed about the event.
The Met said his family will be supported by specialist officers.
It has appealed for any information relating to the incident that may help its investigation.
In a statement, the Met said: “If you have information which you would like to share with police, please call 101.”
Those with information have been asked to quote reference code “CAD5579/18FEB”.
The Met added: “You can also speak 100 percent anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers…
“Calls are never traced and computer IP addresses are never tracked.”
Crimestoppers can be reached on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
At just before 7pm, the Met reported a crime scene remained in place.
No arrests have yet been made.
This comes amid criticism of London Mayor Sadiq Khan for failing to get a hold on knife crime in the capital.
In one particularly savage rebuke, Gordon Rayner, Associate Editor at the Telegraph, along with a Features Writer for the paper, said last week London has become “a far more dangerous place than it was when he took over from Boris Johnson”.
Susan Hall, the Chair of the Police and Crime panel at the Greater London Assembly, added: “Sadiq Khan is a weak leader.
“He makes sure that when there is mud being thrown none of it sticks to him.
“Whether it is knife crime, stop and search or problems in the Met it is always someone else’s fault and rather than get involved and try to resolve the issues he makes sure someone else carries the can.”
