Madeleine McCann: Friends speak out on suspect Christian B ‘Unimaginable’

Christian B, 42, who is currently in a German jail, was revealed in June 2020 as the main suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance. It is understood there is not enough evidence to charge him.

Three-year-old Madeleine vanished during a family holiday in Praia da Luz in Portugal in 2007.

In a new documentary for Spiegel TV titled ‘Suspect in the Maddie Case – Who is Christian B?’ friends have spoken out about him.

One claimed Christian B had attacked her after drinking alcohol when he was working for her and her husband in Portugal.

Karin S said: “He was drinking and then he attacked me.”

Another friend, Björn R, who met Christian B in Braunschweig, also claimed he once threw a crate of Coke in anger in a row with his girlfriend over fish fingers.

He said: “To freak out over such a small thing was a bit strange.”

Christian B earned the nickname “the climber” because he broke into hotels at night to take money and valuables, according to the documentary.

Björn R said: “He did talk a lot about how he managed to break in everywhere.”

Karin S added: “I would never have imagined that. Because Christian didn’t come across that way.

“I have to be honest, if my grandchildren had been there and he had asked me if he could take them to go eat ice cream, I would have said yes. I would never have expected him to do these things.”

Christian B denies the abduction and murder of Madeleine.
