The SNP has experienced pushback recently for its constantly shifting position on pension payments post-union.
Initially, the party’s Westminster leader Ian Blackford argued Whitehall would handle “disbursements” of national insurance payments that form the basis of pensions.
He was ultimately forced to backtrack, however, and Nicola Sturgeon came forward to clarify the SNP’s position.
She admitted on February 10 that pensions would “transfer to the Scottish government” following a referendum “yes” vote.
That did not conclude the debate around pensions, as the Scottish Greens have now filled the void they left behind.
Greens MSP Ross Greer said his preferred pensions arrangements would see the UK Government make “contributions” to Scottish retirement funds.
