‘We know what Putin is up to!’ Bitter reason Russia threatening Ukraine invasion exposed

Former Tory Defence Minister Sir Gerald Howarth warned that a Russian attack on Ukraine is “highly likely” as he claimed Vladimir Putin seeks to avenge the end of the USRR in 1991. Around 130,000 Russian troops are currently camped on the Ukraine borders and ready to launch an attack as soon as President Putin barks out the order. But while Russia have so far ruled out any plans of invasion, Sir Gerald declared that one only has to look at their fake assurances from 2014 to note that history could well repeat itself.

Sir Gerald told TalkRADIO that Mr Putin may want to exorcise the demons related to the end of the old Soviet Union having “never forgiven” his predecessors for the collapse.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace mentioned that there is a “whiff of Munich” in the air as he described a Russian attack on Ukraine as “highly likely”.

And Sir Gerald claimed that it may be worth listening to what Mr Wallace says as he may have a point.

He said: “I think Ben Wallace is absolutely right, he’s a first-class Defence Secretary, a former soldier and officer in the Scots Guards with a lot of experience and I think he’s bringing a steely resolve to this very serious issue.”

Sir Gerald then explained why he feels an invasion is on the cards as Mr Putin has a precedent when it comes to deception, saying: “What we have to understand are two things.

“First and foremost Putin resents bitterly the break-up of the Soviet Union at the end of the cold war.

“He was a KGB officer and he’s never really forgiven his forebears for breaking up the Soviet Union, secondly he has form.

“We know what he’s done in 2008, he invaded a sovereign country Georgia and annexed party of that country

“No, no they had no intention of invading Crimea [but] they did, that is why we need be really worried about what is happening at the moment.”

Tory MP James Stephen Heappey, the UK’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces, is fearful that Russia’s onslaught of Ukraine is imminent.

He said: “My fear is it [an invasion] is very imminent, that’s not to say it’s definitely going to happen.

“This is a warning because minutes after Putin gives the order, missiles and bombs could be landing on Ukrainian cities.”
